The perception of a relationship....

If you feel attracted to a handsome/ pretty looking person, and you finally end up in a relationship with them, is that true love? If you had given a less attractive person a chance and the same time and attention, would you have eventually coupled up?

Can love really be blind? Is it possible to fall in love at first sight with a unattractive person? Is it hypocritical to love someone who is innocent and loyal when you're a player yourself? Is it possible for the loyal person to accept your past flings?

Is love, and attraction enough to make a marriage work? Can marriage work without love? Will a married couple eventually fall in love? Will they fall out of love? Can they still remain together long after the love is gone?

Are you in a relationship now? Why did you couple up? Were you friends before? Did you immediately feel attracted to him/her? Did you suddenly develop romantic feelings? Do you know why you love him/her or do you just feel that way?

Is love rational at all? Or is it something that shouldn't be analysed; like why we yawn when we're bored? Okay, that last bit was just random.

Out of Ideas..

Actually I've a lot in my mind to pour in words just that I couldn't find the exact words to replace all those things in my mind to pour out in one short. If you believe there is happiness while doing small things you should enjoy yourself because nobody knows when is our life ends. By right now I am with my mixed feelings writing this down in a way where everyone would understand..

My Drink is Smarter Than Me

So someone had the brains enough to draw Einstein in your morning cup. This detailed picture is enough to startle anyone thinking of taking a sip. Sure he's an iconic figure, and the face is kind of quirky. But we really don't like it when our drinks look at us- or stick out their tongue.

Money isn't everything, but Money gives you everything

Little did i know, if you want survive in this world.. first of all you would have to work then only you will get paid.. if you not then you will find some other way to work your own in this matter you will be the boss and pay your staffs under you.. If you see those two thing i have mention above is similar, you work for money.. Yes money isn't everything, but money gives you everything you need in this world yet the reason for you to dream big.. Nevertheless to say money is the very basic thing in human's life.. Money plays an important role in everyone's life.. ain't you can't resist it because the truth lie in it'... Every now and then money is the biggest complication of every human's life..

Now back to my life, I always have a dream to buy this and that but the problem is money that all you need.. as i said yes money is biggest complication in my life here.. yet i never fail to dream big.. I always have a dream no matter how many times i failed even if i never tried something still I have the little hopes deep in my heart saying that i'm not done yet, this little hopes always been my motivation for myself to never get tired and keep on doing until I become someone one day.. I know i will one fine day maybe tomorrow perhaps believe me there's nothing harm to dream big if you have little faith in yourself..

Sincerely from,
Avi Arden

How a single letter changed my life!

By CELINE WAN

IT has been said that words can make or break a person’s day.
In my case, a single letter had ruined mine.
When my class teacher handed over my report card, I kept staring at it in disbelief for a letter “D” had tainted a report that would otherwise have been filled with a string of A’s.
As I checked which subject was responsible for ruining my first examination of the year, I was even more shocked to realise that the subject English was the cause of my “D”.
This poignant experience occurred in 2008. During that time, I had just transferred from a Malay-medium school to an English-medium school.
Everything was a big change — from the study system to the school environment.
However, to nearly fail my best subject has made me realised that I was deluded to regard myself as an outstanding student in English.
I was also dumbfounded to discover that my examination would be assessed based on an empty booklet that I was supposed to write in.
Searching for answers
After acknowledging the fact that I almost failed English, I began making it a habit to write.
In my first attempt to write a long essay, I became stupefied.
I never realised that presenting my inner thoughts in an empty space would be so difficult.
When I held my pen and stared at the empty piece of paper, I realised that I was not ready to creatively translate my imagination into words.
Disappointed, I thought, “How could I find such difficulty in expressing my inner voice when a blank piece of paper portrays the fact that such possibilities are endless?”
The entire situation was exacerbated when I discovered that I would not be promoted to the next grade the following year if I were to fail in any subject, what more failing a subject as important as the English language!
Hence, desperate to do something about this blatant “D” before my finals, I tried asking for help.
The common advice given to me was to read regularly.
I personally felt that time was severely limited for I was actively involved in extra-curricular activities and had other subjects to focus on.
However, I complied and eventually picked up the reading habit.
In the following examination, the improvement was nowhere apparent.
This time, I changed my strategy in reading; instead of just focusing on what was written, I diverted some of my attention to how it was written.
In other words, there was a shift in how I analysed written passages.
It was then that I viewed writing in a whole new light.
It’s all about style
After I started collecting books from the same authors, I noticed how each author had his or her own unique writing styles.
I knew then that through practice in writing, I too, would find and develop my own distinctive style.
Why is that so? In my opinion, it is because writing is analogous to allowing others to engage in your thoughts.
With writing, it is also an avenue for you to be in full control of sharing to the world something as intimate as your thoughts.
Therefore, it is no wonder that everyone’s writing styles are so different; everyone’s mind works differently.
However different a person’s writing style is though, they still share something similar if it is well written.
Some of the few common factors I have noticed are their ability to be emotionally moving, thought-provoking and engaging one’s attention.
With these three elements, the unique art of conveying ideas helped bring stories to life.
Through my personal findings, one way of bringing life to words is through vivid descriptions.
It was only after reading in a different perspective did I realise that my failure as a writer was due to my ignorance towards my surroundings.
It was due to my lack of skill in describing my experiences in minute details.
With this in mind, I edged my way to the writing desk.
Blank pieces of paper looked less daunting now and after several attempts to describe the mundane sights and sounds that had previously evoked no imagination on my part, every nameless detail was now amplified and presented its beauty to me.
New ideology
By the end of my academic year, it was not the “A” in English that I was most proud of, but the habit of appreciating the myriad of simple pleasures people have more often than not disregarded.
To me, my change in character as an observer has elicited the greatest sense of gratification.
In fact, it is with this ideology that I plan to carry on my future endeavours and daily life.
The letter “D” has changed the way I view the world.
Gone are the days when my mind was filled with scattering thoughts or staggering ideas when trying to pen anything down. I have learnt to organise my thoughts and jot the findings down when required.
The harmful letter may have once ruined my day but it has saved me from the world of ignorance.
I am glad that I have embraced what was once failure and hardship.
Thank you dear letter, you have saved and improved my life.
The writer is currently on a gap year. She will be pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge this October.

What If..

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong....
am I right?

What I learned from Life of Pie

In the film Life of Pi, Pi says the tiger was the only reason he survived. The reason he stayed alert, his sole companion and at some points his purpose in life. But as important as the tiger was in his life, they parted 'unceremoniously' and without a goodbye. They couldn't communicate, and with no means of clarifying their relationship, they had to leave things as they were. No miraculous story of the tiger never leaving his side or growing old together. No bollywood scene of the tiger turning back one last time before walking away reluctantly. The tiger belonged in the wild, and Pi had to return to reality.

When I have to part with my tiger, the reason I survived, my sole companion and at some points my purpose in life, I shall remember that at the end of the day, I shall have an amazing story to tell. =')

Be Healthy, Stay Healthy

  1. About 60% of our bodies are made up of water. Make sure you have at least 8 glasses of water a day. Drink an additional glass for every 20 minutes of exercise.
  2. Need more Omega 3 fatty acids? Try getting flaxseed from your local organic shop and spinkle them on your salads, sandwiches, cereal and soup.
  3. A great on-the-go food to take is yogurt. It is excellent for preventing yeast infection, strengthening the immune system and relieving ulcers. Try it!
  4. Love milk but afraid of the fat content? Try switching from whole milk to fat-free or skim to lower saturated fat and calories. They still taste great!
  5. Need to snack during the day? Ditch the chips and go for raisins, dried apples, dates, prunes or figs which are excellent sources of fibre and potassium.
  6. Have half-boiled eggs for breakfast. They are high in protein, low in fat and are a good source of vitamin B12, an important key to red blood cell production.
  7. Olive oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids and lowers risk of heart disease and colon cancer. Switch to olive oil and enjoy its benefits today!
Emotional Wellbeing
  1. Feeling stressed? Try taking a few deep breathes. As you breathe out, imagine your stress oozing out of your system through your breath.
  2. Get at least 7.5 hours sleep a night. Sleep affects your mental sharpness, productivity, emotional balance, physical vitality and even your weight.
  3. Exercise can decrease ‘stress hormones' like cortisol, and increase endorphins, your body's ‘feel-good’ chemicals, giving your mood a natural boost.
  4. One of the best stress relievers is playing sports. It takes your mind of your problem and redirects it at the activity at hand.
  5. Exercise releases endorphins, which are naturally produced chemicals that reliefs stress. Time to workout!

What to Eat for Healthy Hair and Nails

No doubt you know that eating healthy is good for you in a plethora of ways—it can decrease your risk of disease, improve your immune system, increase your energy levels and even affect your sleeping habits. But did you know certain foods can improve the way you look, too? Read on to find out which nutrients will give your hair and nails extra luster, strength and shine.

Biotin/Vitamin H
Biotin (a.k.a. vitamin H) can improve hair that is splitting or thinning as well as strengthen weakened nails. Taken with zinc and the corticosteroid clobetasol propionate, biotin has even been used to treat alopecia, an autoimmune skin disease marked by the loss of hair. Nina DiBona, RD, dietitian and nutritionist at the Sports Club/LA in Boston, agrees. “A deficiency in biotin may result in brittle hair or even hair loss.” An easy way to remember: The H in vitamin H stands for “haar and haut,” which means “hair and nails” in German, DiBona notes.

Foods to Try: Bananas, beans, cauliflower, eggs, lentils, peanuts and salmon.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

To get shinier hair, introduce more omega-3s into your diet, which “help support scalp health and may give your locks extra luster and shine,” according to DiBona. The three active ingredients—alpha-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid—are all essential fatty acids and "are important components of the stratum corneum, which is the outermost layer of the epidermis that contains keratin and has water-holding capabilities. Deficiency in essential fatty acids can result in dry scalp or dandruff," she says.

Foods to Try: Eggs, flaxseed, fish oil, mackerel, salmon, sardines, spinach, tuna and walnuts.

Protein

Protein intake is important for many reasons, notably when it comes to hair and nails. Both "are made of structural proteins known as keratin, so adequate dietary protein is important for providing the building blocks for growing strong hair and nails,” explains DiBona. Lean meats are the easiest way to pack protein into your diet—just make sure to steer clear of any that are overly fatty.

Foods to Try: Chicken, eggs, lean red meats, lowfat dairy, nuts, seafood, soybeans and whole grains.

Vitamin A

“Vitamin A helps produce a conditioning substance for the scalp known as sebum, which keeps hair looking and feeling healthy,” says DiBona. In addition to these beauty benefits, this vitamin contributes to better eye health and immune system function, which keeps you vital and strong from head to toe.

Foods to Try: Apricots, broccoli, cantaloupe, carrots, Cheddar cheese, egg yolks, mangoes, oatmeal, spinach and sweet potatoes.

Zinc

Zinc is another nutrient active in helping the immune system function properly, and DiBona also notes that it plays an important role in the formation of your connective tissues. "Zinc is a component of hundreds of enzymes in the body, some of which regulate the body’s ability to make new proteins that will become building blocks of healthy hair and nails," she says. "Alopecia, hair dryness and brittleness can be signs of zinc deficiency."

Foods to Try:
Cashews, green beans, lean beef, lobster, oysters and soybeans.

It's simple and delicious! Have a try peeps!

Stir Fried Tau Miu with Prawns
Preparation time: 5-10 minutes
Cooking time: 5-6 minutes
Serves 4

Ingredients
1 shitake mushroom, thinly sliced
200g tau miu sprouts

8 prawns, deveined
1 tsp Ginger wine

1 shallot
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 small red cili (cili padi), whole
Salt and pepper
3 tbsp cooking oil

1. Marinate prawn with Ginger wine, salt and pepper for 5 minutes.

2. In a wok over medium high heat, heat the cooking oil and add shallots. Fry for 2 minutes until golden brown and remove shallot only and place in a small bowl. This will make your oil fragrant.

3. Using the same oil, fry your prawns for 1 minute or until cooked. The prawns will change to a bright orange hue when cooked. Remove from wok and set aside.

4. Over medium high heat, place the garlic, mushrooms and cili padi in the wok, and fry for 2 minutes until golden brown. Add the tau miu sprouts and stir fry for 1 minute, and season with salt and pepper. Tau miu sprouts do not require very much cooking. Remove from heat.

5. To serve, place tau mui sprouts and mushrooms on plate, then topped with prawns and deep fried shallots.

p/s : Its not necessary to use ginger wine. You can also cook the prawn without marinating and mix it with the Tau Miu sprouts.

Simple & Elegant

I always adore Kate Middleton's style. She is simple elegant in every way she is. It was an imagination on how she would look in her 9th month of pregnancy. Am just too in love with this style.
